We back! Five for Friday. Signs and symbols that are of interest, that are cool, that empower, inspire, and are worth checking out. Five of them. It’s Friday.
1. Who don’t read books in America?
Twenty eight percent of adults apparently. I didn’t realize the percentage of people who do read books was so high. Reassuring…I thought…for a moment. But not really at all. Or in light of the fact that that number was at 8% in 1978. But there is hope apparently.
2. Who needs reading anyways?
Who needs books when you can have stuff performed for you? Pop-Up Magazine is “a live show that takes its inspiration from the classic ideal of a general interest magazine,” says co-founder and editor in chief Doug McGray.
3. The size of everything important
The internet is huge. And growing. 2.3ZB of IP traffic by 2020, says Cisco. It’s time for a
“lighter, more efficient web”.
Wanna visualization of this? Check out The Internet Map, with site by site links to stats from Alexa. We ain’t even nothing.
“The Internet map is a bi-dimensional presentation of links between websites on the Internet. Every site is a circle on the map, and its size is determined by website traffic, the larger the amount of traffic, the bigger the circle.”
4. Beastie Boys + Daft Punk = Daft Science
What’s not to like? This free streaming album of Beastie Boys remixes, using only Daft Punk samples, was put together by Toronto’s COINS.
Even Time.com is down. I guess this isn’t news.
5. Fuck 2016
